How to save recipes in one place
Screenshots get lost, bookmarks pile up and cookbooks stay on the shelf. Here is a simple way to keep every recipe where you can find and cook it.
1. From a web link
Most recipe websites include the recipe as structured data (schema.org Recipe) so that search engines can read it. An app can read the same data from the page: ingredients, steps, times and servings, without the stories and ads around it. In Ovenly you paste the address and tap Get recipe.
2. From pasted text
Recipes shared in messages and in social media captions are plain text. Copy the text and paste it: ingredients and steps are separated for you, and you check the result before saving.
3. From a cookbook page
Photograph the page in good light with the phone held straight above it. The text is recognised on the phone, so nothing is uploaded. Always check the result: scanned text can have small mistakes such as a wrong quantity.
4. Write your own
Family recipes deserve a home too. Type the ingredients one per line and the steps one per line.
Keep it tidy
- Use a few tags (Dinner, Quick, Baking) rather than many folders.
- Favorite what you cook again.
- Make a backup file now and then if your recipes live on your phone only.
